Diwali 2019
Project Description

Diwali Celebration

On Friday the 25th of October, the ICL Education Group hosted our first Diwali celebration at the ICL Education Centre’s student lounge. We had a one hour event from 12.30pm to 1.30pm to offer a space where our students could experience and engage with Diwali customs and traditions.

At ICL we aspire to host a space for our students to celebrate each other’s cultures through cultural events that reflect the diversity of our community’s backgrounds. With Diwali, we created a space where students could engage in Indian culture, which involved experiencing traditional cuisine, and participating in Diwali specific activities, such as rangoli making, having henna drawn on their hands, and playing traditional cards games. Students and staff alike enjoyed participating in the event immensely, and it was particularly exciting to see some students take to centre stage to sing for the crowd.

We would like to thank everyone who came along to help us celebrate this event, and welcome you to join us in the next one!

Special thanks goes to our students Preeti Sharma, who helped us organise the event and also participated in singing, and Manpreet Singh who sang two songs during the event to our student audience.

We engaged with over 50 students in our feedback responses, which helps us make these events the best they can be for you. If you have additional feedback for us regarding our Diwali celebrations, we’d like to hear from you! Please submit your feedback to info@icl.ac.nz

Thank you for being part of the ICL Education Group’s Diwali celebrations!

Kind regards,

ICL Education Group
